SystemSentry™ - Reliability Insurance For Your Software.
It can be argued that receipt of payment is the most important element in the success of a business. In order to insure that your payment processing mechanism is always working when it’s needed, the TranScend™ design team developed the SystemSentry™ sub-system composed of the following software components.
- Fast Fail Strategy – when individual software components or programs encounter an abnormal processing condition, logic is initiated that quickly ends the process and logs the event.
- Watch Dog Process – Since TranScend™ employs a fast fail strategy as part of its fault tolerant design, it’s imperative that it has a watch-dog process as a key component of the system design. The “control server” is charged with making certain that all server processes are alive and kicking. If any process is found to be down, the control server will restart it automatically without requiring any user intervention and log the event.
- Self Healing Communication Channel – all data communication channels are checked and validated prior to any data transmission. This strategy uses the assumption that the network is unreliable thus preventing the merchant from unexpected communication failures.
- Data Journaling & Delta Records – all data is archived and logged regardless of its state in the system thus insuring minimal data loss in the event of corruption or hardware failure.
- Stateless Server Design – each unit of work in the system is treated as a unique transactional event and logged accordingly.
